Well, I got the leet sauce Zalman 9500 and put it in. Before I could get 3.83ghz and would get up too hot quickly and would lock up, guess proc got over 70c and cores hotter, put the zalman in and my highest core at full 100% prime95 load bearly breaks 61c the rest under 60. Damn, thats crazy how much better that thing is than the stock pos. Maybe intel should be smart and just make better coolers and clock their shit higher :). Anyway, fucking pushing 110-130fps in normal area's in game and bearly dip in the hgih 90's looking across the map up to 200 indoors. Gotta love is. I can run high at 60+ fps too in directx 9, put it in 10 and for some reason high lags like hell. Overclock FTW!, for some reason I wanted to get 4ghz but I Can't, I think my ram or Northbridge can't handle the FSB cause the chip definatley isn't pushing red, so I'll be happy with 3.83 a full 1Ghz overclock running sub 60c :). Playing BC2 It doesn't even break 50c.

What were the changes you made to get it up to that speed?

i used the auto overclock with the software for my board. I tried tweaking myself but it's a pain in the ass. The auto works so I stuck with it. I tried to tweak from that starting point and it just won't go any higher, won't boot into windows, locks up before posting and shit, so I'm fine with what it's at. It juiced up the vcore some to maybe a limit of 1.4v and northbridge and shit a little, but nothing out of the ordinary.

nice, good ol auto OC, this is the first time i've used an auto tuner thingy with my rig, i got it up to 4GHZ, and it was decently stable too, but the temps were way too high with what i should be staying at with air cooling.

GJ though, welcome to the 100+fps club now we gotta getcha one of them 120hz monitors so you can actually see all a dem frames!@

They just aren't really mainstream yet. So you got to basically go with a small HDTV basically, not sure if the resolution looks that great or not if you went that route thou.

i have the 2233rz, i did alot of research on the AV forums to make my decision, also it was dirt cheap (279.99).

here's some facts that you should know, the viewsonic is using the exact same panel as the samsung, both manufactured by samsung, just in a viewsonic package, which supposedly fucks with the total lumens brightness, and also adds alot of input lag.

that Acer you found is currently the ONLY FULL HD resolution 120hz monitor @ 1920 x 1080 24 inches, rather than mine which is 22 inches running at 1680x1050.

the difference is in the input lag. NOT the frilly *5 MS INPUT LAG* sticker on the front of the box, no i mean ACTUAL input lag. My samsung has the lowest input lag of any 120hz monitor, by a decent margin. this is why i bought it. the color is pretty awsome, all samsungs are, not the best, it's no apple cinema display, but you'll be pleanty pleased.

    http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=6&ma1=36&mo1=458&p1=4495&ma2=38&mo2=631&p2=7352&ph=1

also worth noting, is that all 120hz monitors are TN film panels, this is the same technology used to manufacture laptop displays, which means that when you view the screen tilted back, it looks like the colours can be a bit fucked up. also the horizontal viewing angle is much less than other SVPA type monitors (apple laptop screens, normal big screen TVs) this is just how it is, don't freak out, the monitors don't look like a shitty laptop screen, they look gorgeous. TN film screens have the lowest input lag therefore are used for gaming grade montors.

So pretty much i'd choose between the 22" samsung, and the 24" acer. i've heard great things about the acer, it is 1 generation newer as the sammy was the first to market. the sammy has better input lag, the acer is newer as bigger. (+25ms difference max input lag equals exactly 2.5 frames latency going at 100FPS in-game. not huge, but potentially noticible side-to-side)

i own an older Benq 24" gaming monitor, and i still love it to bits, the 22" seems just a bit too small compared to it, having a full 24" 1080p screen is the money spot. and i was really tempted to get that acer, i didn't because it was mroe expensive, in big demand and short supply, and i could get the sammy cheaper.

if you get the acer, let us know how you like it, as 22" is great, more than enough to rock, but 24" is fucking nice.

last thing! the bigger screen has a bigger resolution, therefore you'll potentially be getting less FPS in-game. although there's not much difference between the resolutions. per frame the 22" is about 1.7 megapixels, and the 24" is about 2.0 megapixels.

yeah, i feels liek a CRT, well actually it outperforms most CRTs. all window movement, mousemovement, is super pooper duper smooth. needs to be seen to be believed.

i highly reccomend calling around and seeing if a computer store near you has the samsung on display. as nvidia has been setting up their 3D displays featuring this monitor at a bunch of stores in canada at least, might be everywhere.

just get a feel for it, and then decide if the price premium is worth it for non-gaming purposes. 3D is annoying and gives me headaches, but 120hz is waaay undervalued, and the thing is that almost no other gamers have it yet, so it gives you a definite edge in games if you get in right now.

for work related purposes, it'd be sweet, honestly i can tell right away the second i use someone else's monitor, i wish i was back on my own, no matter what i'm doing on it. but if you're using spreadsheet for 8 hours a day, then maybe it's not worth the price.

i'd get one for home first, as you can dual use it games/work, and then go from there. but definately try to see it in a store asap. i was looking at this sammy for a year before i bought it, it seemsed awsome, but i was just buying a heatsink at a store, and saw it in the flesh, and i fucking ran home, found the best deal i could online and bought it that night.
