is an an MMOFPS (i think?) developed by one of the original creators of the GTA series. well it's coming out in a month.
June 29th 2010 to be exact.
so seeing as we're all having a blast playing GTA 4 right about now, maybe this is something to take a peek at.
really i know nothing about the game, but some hype which is probably BS, if anyone can link to some real info that'd be appreciated.
moreover i've heard that there's a beta going on, if anyone has a way into that, or if a demo's coming out, i wouldn't mind taking her for a spin.
but if it follows the formula for all videogame releases in recent memory, it will be broken for it's first year anyways, especially an MMO. i can't even fathom the systems they have to manage to implement games on this level. i never really played an mmo before, so it's all future-tech for me ^^ |

MMO = no thanks . All MMO's = drag the game out and make you no life it so they make money, thats their main purpose and I won't get caught in that scheme again. Any game that requires you to put time into it to be "better" than the others forget it . Least with BC2 sure if i put more time in it i'm better than not BUT some noob no lifer who plays 24/7 can kill me with ease no matter the circumstance, with BC2 non mmo I can still woop that ass with the default gun. |

if you think that people don't cheat in RTS or MMOs, I have a bridge I can sell ya.
this game looks like a gta iv clone, to some extent. if its like gta iv, but bigger, and without a bullshit gear/time sink, then it might be something fun to play.
link below to some gameplay. looks like there are squads and objectives and shit. might be decent, who knows.

ok so i'm seriously considering pre-ordering this. too much anxiety over getting some new game in my daily routine. and this seems like it's worth a stab at the very least. i can get the title, and even if it sucks, i can bank my hours and come back to it in a year when it's better, more features, etc. the only question that remains, is what side do i pick? cops or robbers? If any other DoD is thinking about picking this title up eventually, it would be nice if were at least all alliance or horde. from what i've gathered, criminals feed off the city, cops feed off the criminals. one thing that cops can do that criminals can't is arrest people. you can use non-lethal means to incapacitate, and then book them. it takes more time, more skill, and you're more vulnerable. but it is kind of a humiliation kill. also there's the benefit of taking the criminal out of the instance for longer. if you arrest them they wait like 30 seconds to respawn, if you kill them, 5 seconds. remember it's an action MMO, not really an RPG. alot of the design seem to just want to keep people in the action, no warping to the graveyard halfway across the universe. no losing levels, or stuff when you die, you just lose notoriety. so i'm thinking cops? we're DoD afterall, being johnny law wouldn't be out of character. plus we get to try and root out the higher profile criminals to get good prestige or whatever. also, i figure that most of the 14 year old noobs will just be criminals, cause they get to have spikey hair. i'd rather be a cop i think, and roll in a posse where we all have wikkid moustaches. thoughts? it gets released in 2 weeks. |

well, i bet no one is reading this thread anymore, but you should! cause i have a hookup on a key generator that will give you 5 hours of free gameplay from the 12th to the 19th.
it's not much, but it's free, also these keys are supposed to be unavailable, so, uhh, ummm, sure.
http://keys.rockpapershotgun.com/
if you wanna check the game out hassle-free and see what it's about, and where it's at in development right now, 2 weeks before release, this is a relatively painless way of doing so
warning though, the servers are pretty slammed, and it's gonna take a while to DL this in the background, isn't affecting my ingame battlefield experience though, so i'm good. |

okay, so the pre-launch demo is over, i played 30 hours over 3 different accounts, 2 as a cop, 1 as a robber, think i'm gonna level my cop first, hearing people cuss you out when you taze them then arrest them is tooo fucking good.
there's a review embargo for the public until a week after launch, to give reviewers time enough to really get a feel of the game, the depth of customization, etc. but i did manage to find one well written preview on the guardian.co.uk website

this is actually %100 true in this game and i should have addressed this, for the record. you can still pwn with the first gun. no shit! the first gun is pretty rockin at all ranges, i've taken out max level people with it who've been playing the beta for over a year with my toon which was less than 5 hours old. true story! not even makin it up.
you can still get upgrades to slightly better guns, ie. the AN-94 is better than the AEK. and some small perks like the equivalent of Magnum ammo, slightly faster health regen, slightly faster sprint, resupply ammo in a crate on the fly (or make your car a mobile ammo hub), different kinds of grenades such as frag, smoke, and concussion (for less-than-lethal takedowns and arrests). but 5-7 bullets from your first and original gun which is given to you for nothing will kill anyone, always.
oh, and why do these items all sound slightly familliar? oh right, cause they're all in BC2. oh snap! and you actually have to put in a shit ton more hours leveling into BC2 to get all the gear than this game, this game you can max out in 15-20 hours. took me at least 50 hours in BC2 to get to lvl 25. this game is entirely skill based, not gear based, and your level doesn't mean shit except to pair you against bad guys of an approximate level.
it's too bad that whenever a good game comes along, it can be cast aside just because. cause MMO is a dirty word right now. this isn't an MMORPG, it's a third person squad based GTA style shooter, with up to 100 people running around in each server.
with insane customization (there's a music sequencer in-game) with your cars, themes, characters, clothes. shit you could recreate the ghostbusters, and drive around in an ECTO-1, or for Unidus, you could be a fully decked-out Klansman, and make an ingame clan group called the KKK, and run around with the in-game voip screaming "BURN ALL THE NIGGERS!" throwing moletovs at anything that looked at you funny. if that's what works for you. thing is, it's up to what you put into the game that's what you'll get out.
the in-game voip implementation is retarded, what i used to dream should be in games, then kinda forgot about and figured would never happen... you can cuss out the guys you're shooting against. while you're shooting them, and after you're dead, after they're dead etc. you get to actually hear the motherfucker slam his keyboard and scream "GODDAMNIT!" after you mow him down for the 4th consecutive time in a row. nuff said. |

oh i do, i blame wow for the overall downturn of society and the final death knell of pc gaming. the monthly fees, yeah, it sucks. but i'm hoping that this is a game where they actually support it day to day. and if something's broken, or OP, or hacked, then it'll be fixed pretty quickly. from what i've read MMOs do have very good support departments, personally i've emailed support@apb.com twice already, and each reply was a custom reponse to my very particular question, complete with steps, and other ideas. also i got my answers in less than 24 hours. if they can control hackers, roll out new content, and have people at the ready to help me when i want shit answered, that's worth the price. for 6 months of hassle-free gaming, shit i could have wasted my cash on another bland shooter that'll be hacked to shit and broken as fuck. *cough MOH* (gonna cancel that POS fo sho) for the same price that i'd probably play for 3 weeks then get tired of. but the "levels" ain't what you think it is. it's just a mechanic of letting you get better guns as you progress. it's identical to battlefield, where "when you reach level 15, you get this gun". except in APB, it's "when you reach level 15, you can buy this gun from the gun store". same shit, different packaging. you don't have more HP, or do more DMG with a higher level. just like in BF it doesn't mean shit except to add inches to your e-peen. oh and in-game resources are plentiful, not like farming WoW gold from everything i've read and heard about that fun little activity. you get $ for killing stuff, arresting things, and doing missions. you'll never not have enough to buy the next gun you just unlocked, really it's to buy extra cars, and different clothes, and stuff that people have made themselves that they sell at auctions. |

soo, i've just sold 2 item upgrades (like magnum ammo) that i've earned within the first 10 days of play, and sold them on the in-game auction system to noobs who don't know/can't hope of getting them as they have no skill...
for 22 months worth of play time
if anyone's still interested in playing this game, i'd jump on it, as i can show you exactly how to get each of these items in 3 days each. each you can sell for about 5000+ RTW points, and it costs 400 points for 1 month of unlimited game time.
also, you can just make a new toon and earn these items again and send them to your main character. it's pretty retarded right now, if there were ever a time to jump on it, now be tha time. so very many wow noobs jumping into the game who can't shoot and are getting rawked, so they steal mommy's credit card and need to quickly buy some phat lewt!
btw, the upgrade, while the best, still isn't that special. you can buy lvl 1 magnum which gives 5% weapon dmg boost, buy lvl2 which gives 8%...
or you can earn a lvl 3 just 2 times per character for free through progression, which gives you 10%. so i can just buy a lvl 2 magnum from the store and be doing %108 dmg instead of %110. shit i'm doing pretty good without any upgrades at all. |

ANNOUNCING THE APB ''BUDDY KEY'' SYSTEM
Posted by Toxico yesterday, 17:14 0
Greetings residents of San Paro!
In the continuing spirit of open communication, we wanted to let you all know about our imminent plans for a Buddy Key program.
THE BASICS
Participation allows you to invite a friend to temporarily join you on the streets of San Paro, for free. If they end up buying APB: All Points Bulletin we will give you 400 Realtime Worlds Points – equivalent to 30 days unlimited Gametime! The Points will get credited directly to the referrer’s account, with a minimum turnaround of 48 hours.
We will shortly be launching the first phase, which is open to anyone who has purchased additional Gametime. If you have paid for any amount of unlimited access (30/60/120 days) or 20 extra hours, expect an e-mail to arrive shortly (and don’t forget to check your Spam folder just in case).
And yes, this does mean that anyone buying Gametime DURING the first phase, right up until it ends, will also get a mail including a Buddy Key. But make sure your friend redeems it before the deadline of midnight GMT / 7pm EST on Sunday 8th August, or they’ll miss their chance!
In your e-mail will be a special key with instructions for redemption. Forward this e-mail to a friend, and he or she will be able to register for a free account, linked to yours, which gets 7 hours of Action District Gametime that can be used over a 5 day period. This is counted from the moment they redeem their Buddy Key. It’s a great chance for them to get a taste of San Paro’s fast-paced action!
in summary! what this means is, if anyone wants to take me up on it, you get a free trial. plus, if you buy the game i get a month free, which i'll just give back to you, if anyone wants to play shit i'll give em 2 free months. also you get an additional 50 hours which can be banked after your months are up.
who wants a free trial? |
