lulz, yeah can't never have enough flange, it's the cowbell of electronica.

so i'm working with some internet radio guys to get a live station up on APB. would be cool to give people the option to tune into live radio while they're running over pedestrians. i just don't know shit about the technical side of delivering that to thousands of people, so that's kinda outta my hands, i just play muzak. talking to a game dev too about getting a dj battle instance in the social disctrict. he seems pretty excited about that, there's jsut some rights issues with last.fm, also last.fm doesn't know %1 of the choons i play. shit i probably don't know %10 of what i play lol.

long story short, my turntables got broke a while ago, and i've been using whatever else bullshit i can get my hands on. most of them are really broken, but not as broken as my babies. i lent them to a rave promoter and had a 12' stack of speakers land on em. they still turn good, but the tonearm assemblies are fucked. and will cost more to repair than to but new decks. which is about $1500, also i'm poor. getting $4k in a week, and it goes to 3 months of rent instantly. i have less than $500 for food. kinda depressing.

so yeah, thanks for the positive reinforcement, always appreciated. i'll link ya this example of what working with shitty gear sounds like, just for you! it's some of that old flava DnB, offa LTJ Bukem's label circa 91-95. i'm a sucker for the oldies. alot more chill, except i was trying to compensate for busted turntables, so you can hear when the beat doesn't stay on. also i was testing a new FX sampler box, so you can hear when that works, and when it's garbage, lol. pretty hit and miss, but gives an idea of what i'm working with as of right now, and this needs to be remedied before i can really push forward. i can always use CDJs, but that's lame. i can't scratch, can't cut, and it just adds a gameboy feel to the mixes, i need to get back on vinyl.

and if there's anything you haven't herd yet, checkout http://www.djslick.ca/sets it should be open to the public now. most of it's crap. the 5 hour S L I C K mix is a showpiece i guess. it's all old though, gotta update soon. you can tell.
